Four Reasons Not to Avoid Scheduling an Energy Audit of Your Building

Fear of Learning How Inefficient your Building Is

In today’s energy conscious culture, most building owners have made at least nominal efforts to make their building more energy efficient, of which using lights and appliances only when necessary is the most common. Such efforts rarely impact a commercial building’s annual utility bill. But they do convince building owners that their building is somehow more efficient, which isn’t true. As a result, some building owners would rather live in bliss than find out just how inefficient their building is. The bottom line: if you want to develop a strategy for energy efficiency, you need to have an energy audit.

Fear of Being Quoted a High Project Price

An energy audit doesn’t involve being quoted a price for an energy efficiency project. It involves evaluating your building’s energy efficiency and comparing it to the readings of similar buildings on a regional basis. If your building doesn’t rank well, then you can start discussing an energy efficiency project.

Fear of Being Faced with Solutions that Don’t Suit your Taste

Energy efficiency is usually spoken about in an objective manner, as if utility costs and carbon footprints are the only things that matter building owners. But they aren’t. If you arrive at the point of saying yes to an energy efficiency project, the project will ultimately be determined by what you wish to achieve, which, in addition to cost savings and eco friendliness, can include such things as improved aesthetics, noise reduction and even brand loyalty. But it’s important to remember that an energy audit alone doesn’t result in proposed solutions.

Fear of Being Faced With Immediate Decisions

The only decision that an energy audit requires you to make is whether or not you wish to explore new energy solutions, and you can make this decision whenever you want. Reputable energy efficiency consultants conduct an extended dialogue with potential customers before anything is put in writing. By the time you make a decision, you’ll have received more than enough information to make your decision extremely educated.
